Cancellations

Last updated: 17 August 2026

This Cancellation Policy explains how to cancel subscriptions, recurring charges and event commitments with Crony (Pty) Ltd, trading as Crony ("Crony", "we", "us"). It forms part of our Terms of Service and works alongside our Refund Policy.

In short: you can cancel any recurring charge yourself, at any time, without contacting us and without penalty.

Note: the Platform is in development and paid features are not live yet. This Policy sets out how cancellation will work once they are enabled.

1. How to cancel a subscription

You may cancel at any time, using either of these methods:

In the app: Account → Subscription → Cancel Subscription, then confirm. Your cancellation is recorded immediately and stops all future billing straight away; you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for (see clause 2).

By email: send a cancellation request from your account email address to support@thecronyapp.com. We action it within 2 business days and confirm in writing. If a renewal falls within that window, we treat the cancellation as effective from the date you sent your email and refund any charge taken after it.

We will always send you written confirmation of a cancellation. Keep it as your record. If you don't receive confirmation within 2 business days, contact us.

2. What happens when you cancel

3. Reactivating

You can resubscribe at any time. Reactivation is charged at the price current at that time; previously unused period time is not restored.

4. Price changes and renewals

We will notify you in advance of any price increase or material change to a subscription, and you may cancel before it takes effect. If you cancel for that reason before the change applies, you are never charged the new price.

5. Trials and promotional periods

If you take a free or discounted trial, we will tell you when it ends and what you will be charged. Cancel before the trial ends and you are not charged. Cancelling during a trial ends access at the end of the trial period.

6. One-off purchases

One-off in-app purchases are not recurring, so there is nothing to cancel. Once a purchase has been completed and the feature or credit accessed, it cannot be cancelled. See our Refund Policy for when a refund applies.

7. Event tickets and bookings

(Applies once event features are enabled.)

The host sets the price and is the seller. Their cancellation terms and deadline are displayed before you pay.

If you want to cancel your attendance, use the cancel option on your ticket in the app, or email support@thecronyapp.com before the stated deadline. What you get back depends on the terms the host chose, which may be fully flexible, a sliding scale, transferable only, or non-refundable. See clause 4.3 of our Refund Policy for the indicative sliding scale.

Passing your ticket on instead of cancelling. Where the host allows it, you do not have to cancel at all. You can regift the ticket to a friend at no charge, transfer it to a named person and settle up privately, or release it for resale if the host offers that. Regifting and transfers are free. See clause 4.4 of our Refund Policy.

If the event is cancelled or postponed, you will be offered a place at the rescheduled event, a credit to your Crony account, or a refund. You are never obliged to accept a credit or a reschedule. Where the host cancels, the host funds the refund; where Crony cancels, Crony funds it. If the host fails to refund you when they should, contact us and we will put it right. See clause 4 of our Refund Policy.

8. Event pools

(Applies once event features are enabled.)

An event pool is a group jointly funding a ticket for a listed event. Your card is authorised when you join and is only charged once the group completes. You may leave a pool at any time before it completes and you will not be charged. Once the pool completes, it follows the event cancellation and refund rules above. If the group does not complete, or the event does not proceed, you are not charged, or are refunded in full if a charge has already been taken.

9. Artist tips

(Applies once tipping is enabled.)

Tips are one-off voluntary payments and cannot be cancelled once submitted. If a tip was made in error and the transaction has not yet settled, contact us immediately. See our Refund Policy.

10. Cancellation by Crony

We may suspend or cancel your access where you materially breach our Terms of Service, where we reasonably suspect fraud or unlawful activity, or where required by law or by our payment provider. Where we cancel without cause, we refund all amounts prepaid for services not yet provided. Where we cancel a specific paid feature permanently, we refund the unused portion or provide a reasonable equivalent.

11. Complaints

If you have any difficulty cancelling, email support@thecronyapp.com. We aim to resolve complaints within 10 business days. Nothing in this Policy limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002.
